According to various media reports, these calls reportedly featured sounds of screaming, explosions, and sirens, believed to be recordings of hostages reportedly utilized in prior videos released by Hamas.
The Israeli Hostage Families Forum confirmed receiving reports concerning these unsolicited calls, clarifying that they were not made at the Forum's behest.
Additional reports from the newspaper Haaretz indicated that some of these calls included voices urging for prompt negotiations for a hostage deal.
As of the latest updates, Israeli officials stated that approximately 20 hostages are still alive in Gaza, while the status of three additional captives remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, the remains of 35 deceased hostages are also reported to be in Hamas custody.
Negotiations between Israel and Hamas for the potential release of hostages appear to have stalled.
In response to these phone calls, the Israeli Cyber Directorate initiated an investigation.
Reports suggest that the Cyber Directorate perceives these calls as attempts to incite panic among the population.

António Guterres characterizing the current situation as possibly the "most brutal phase" of the ongoing war.
He highlighted the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza, noting that the entire Gazan population faces severe famine, with families deprived of essential resources amid the crisis.
Humanitarian assistance has seen limited improvements following the easing of a blockade by Israel, with only about 400 trucks permitted into Gaza recently—a fraction of the estimated 500 to 600 trucks required daily to meet urgent needs, as stated by UN officials.
On the ground, Israeli Defense Forces have continued their military operations in Gaza, reportedly targeting various militant sites, with ongoing claims of casualties.
