Discussions between Ukraine and the USA progress towards a potential resolution of the ongoing conflict.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Monday as part of ongoing discussions aimed at establishing a peace resolution for Ukraine amid the protracted conflict initiated by Russia.
This announcement was made by Zelenskyy during his regular Sunday night video address.
He confirmed, 'Tomorrow we will continue to work for peace – I will visit Saudi Arabia.'
The discussions have already begun between Ukrainian and American negotiators, reportedly yielding satisfactory initial results.
Zelenskyy expressed hope for outcomes that would advance both peace and continued support for Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also set to participate in the talks, traveling to Jeddah on Monday to engage with Ukrainian representatives regarding a potential peace agreement.
In addition to Zelenskyy, key figures from the Ukrainian government will be present at the meeting, including Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for over three years, and these negotiations mark a significant development in the attempt to address the ongoing conflict.
Saudi Arabia has emerged as a potential host for future diplomatic engagements, including a possible meeting between US President
Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, although no specific timeline has been established for this discussion.
In February, US government representatives had already convened with their Russian counterparts in Saudi Arabia to explore pathways towards concluding the Ukraine war, initiating a process agreed upon by Trump and Putin during a phone conversation the same month.
